Emerald Bowl (Part II)

If Murdoch is right on his over bet posted below (which I am sure he will be), then this over hits because Georgia Tech puts a spanking on Utah. Utah has had inflated lines all year long as a result of last years success as they have gone a putrid 2-9 against the spread this season. Do not be mistaken, this is not near the same team as last years. They lost a ton of talent (including Alex Smith) and their head coach who turned them around. Utah has good offensive stats, but these must be put into perspective as they are not playing a Mountain West opponent in this game. GT ranks 10th in the nation in total defense (less than 300 yards/game) and 16th in scoring defense (less than 17 points/game). GT should be able to move the ball at will agaisnt a defense that ranked 88th in the nation (playing in the mountain west!). I do believe that Utah will get a few scores in this game as GT will not be shutting them out, however, GT will put up around 40 on this soft D. Keep in mind that GT has gone to "sub-standard" bowl games the past two years and have beaten weaker opponents (like Utah) by a combined score of 103-24 (putting up more than 50 in each. Take GT and watch them roll to a 38-13 victory.

Georgia Tech -8 (**)

The line is now -9 for GT. Minnesota is at -6. I like Oak tonight +3.5

can i note here, while on the subject of utah, that alex smith is absolutely terrible and will go down as one of the worst #1 qb picks ever. at least todd blackledge was 3rd overall...

I like GT up to -10 tonight. Not much we can do about Minn, I like them up to -7, but it truly was a 5* game at -3 when I told everyone to get on it because that line was going to go up. I will let everyone know if it is still a 5* game at -6 or -7 tonight or tomorrow morning. If you got it at -3 like I did, then you should feel very, very safe.

We will post the OU game later today.

Birdman, love your picks. Do you have any early thoughts on USC/Texas?

Nice showing GT...well sometimes a team just does not come to play and although I thought they would as they have the previous two years, they laid a big egg today. Screw them. Let's move on.
