Toledo goes "Bowling"

Tonight, the smart money should be on Toledo +6 against Bowling Green. Yes, I am aware that Bowling Green destroyed Miami (OH) last week and Toledo lost to Northern Illinois at home, but those games were aberrations, nothing more. Bowling Green benefitted from a monsoon to acquire 7 turnovers and three safeties and Miami was out of it before it began and was forced to try to score quickly through the air, no easy task in a rainstorm. However, score aside, Miami actually outgained Bowling Green. Toledo struggled against N. Ill as Gradkowski had a miserable game. Toledo had 5 turnovers, 4 in N. Ill territory, but the yards were there as the two teams were about equal. No way this Senior quarterback goes out like that tonight. If Toledo loses, they will likely not be in a bowl game, however, if they win, they have a good chance of playing in the MAC championship. A lot is riding on this game.

I believe it is Toledo's defense that will be the difference. The MAC's best running back, Wolff, ran all over them last week, but they still boast the best defense in the MAC, which should spell trouble for a Bowling Green squad that has struggled much of the year. Bowling Green gives up yards in bunches on the ground and tonight should be no exception. Omar Jacobs has been hurt, but even when healthy, he has been underwhelming. Look for this to continue tonight in a game that will be downright bitter with a chance of snow. In these types of games, the better running team with the better running defense has a big advantage and that is clearly Toledo.

Wrong team favored in this one tonight...take Toledo +6 STRAIGHT UP against Bowling Green tonight.

Actually the smart bet might be to take Toledo and the points, and perhaps try a Murdoch special which is a parley of the Toledo money line + the under as this game should be lower than people expect.
